We Welcome Military Service Members, Veterans and Their Families

At Norwich, we know a thing or two about innovative education for service members. Founded in 1819 as the first private military college, we have a 200-year legacy of providing a proven, career-ready education that’s taught by expert faculty, many of whom are retired military themselves and can deliver additional insights and understanding.

All of our degree programs maintain our original focus of “thinking and doing” — so you graduate as a top candidate in the job market with strong hands-on experiences and the most relevant industry knowledge.

It is our mission to provide exceptional service and accessibility to our military students. We’re very aware of the unique challenges service members, veterans and their families face, and we offer numerous support systems and benefits specifically for them.

Dedicated Military Support — Get Mentored Toward Success

From application to graduation, we’re dedicated to upholding the respect and dignity of our military students, veterans and their families. Currently in progress, Norwich faculty and staff undergo Green Zone Training so they have a greater understanding of:

  • The military experience and the emotional cycle of deployment.
  • Potential issues facing veterans and their families when transitioning into civilian academics.
  • Community resources available to our service members and veterans.

Specific Support Include:

  • Military Education Benefits Coordinator. Shaun McCaughey, Associate Registrar and VA Certifying Official, is an essential point of contact who can help with questions about military and veteran benefits.
  • Admissions Advisor. Work one-on-one with a single person who can guide you through all the upfront processes and details including transfer credits, eligibility and tuition costs.
  • Student Support Advisor. Your personal advocate for issues that may impact your academic experience, such as deployment, program requirements, course materials and university policies.
  • Library Research & Resource. Our distance-learning librarian and reference staff members provide research assistance via email, phone, and chat, and they can give you access to journal articles not available online.
  • Graduate Writing Center. Take advantage of online tools and resources and get tips and best practices from alumni through forums, modules and assignment reviews.

Additional Areas of Support Include:

  • ADA Advocate and Coordinator
  • Counselling and Emergency Services
  • Net Price Calculator
  • Tuition Assistance “Top-Up”
  • eBenefits

  • The American System of Education started here
  • We offered the first civil engineering program in 1820
  • We gave birth to the Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (ROTC) in 1916
  • We were one of the first institutions to receive designation as an NSA Center of Excellence in Information Security Education
